Summary
MELOPAS objective is to develop and test a methodology
and tools that can guarantee through system level analysis that
mixed mode signal ASIC with embedded micro-processor will obtain
the target power consumption specification.
The partners, Schlumberger, XEMICS and CSEM, will closely
collaborate to select modelling languages, design flow and
simulation tools to evaluate at the system simulation the power
consumption of mixed mode ASICs.
MELOPAS will be validated through the design of a new
ASIC.
Measurements on PC Boards will be correlated with system level
analysis.
The different stages of MELOPAS and its efficiency will be
disseminated.
- Co-simulation based on CoolRISC development tools
- Power models of the CoolRISC core and memories
- Power model templates for digital / analog peripherals
including documentation, a graphical tool to present the power
statistics of each ASIC block as a function of time or of the
specific location in the application program.
- Publication on methodology
- Power consumption measurements of CoolRISC and its
peripherals
- Effectiveness of the methodology : Precision of the
simulations compared to measured power consumption figures of
ASIC.
Objectives
XEMICS' objective is to develop a methodology to evaluate the'
power consumption of a complex ASIC early on in the design
flow.
CSEM's objective is to develop a hardware/software'
co-simulation tool.
Schlumberger 's objective is to quickly achieve a drastic'
reduction on the power consumption of electronic equipment.
